I agree about the Clapping. I didn’t even know I could clap more than once. But I disagree about the branding. The brands you compared Medium to are ‘print media’ style brands (historically), and they are part of the last “century” in terms of old and new media. Medium is a purely digital brand, and therefore, the new branding fits better in my opinion.
The clapping thing should be reduced to “I clap once because I like it, or I don’t clap at all”.
